The Hybrid System is a combination of different types of leadoffs to avoid falling into patterns. The main concept is the same, we are trying to establish momentum before the pitcher moves to the plate, but we are having to be more creative. Expanding our base stealing arsenal became necessary when other teams began to intentionally defend our basic momentum attempts. This is the defense against the defense.
